My name is Naftaly Kadosh and I am an Israeli folk dance teacher. I never was a dancer; I went straight to being a teacher. When I was young (a long, long time ago) I worked for a youth movement in Israel. I had one daughter, another one on the way, and I was going to law school in Tel Aviv.
Meir Shem-tov ran a session at my workplace in Hadera and something about the session really appealed to me. So I decided to become a folk dance teacher. During the course of teaching, I ran out of material to teach, so I started creating my own.
Here I am, after 31 years of dancing, choreographing and teaching, I’m going to open a session of my own (like I need an extra challenge in my life). My reason is very simple: I want it to be different. I want to teach new dances that will (most likely) last more than the usual 3-6 months. I want to bring back those dances that I loved dancing and it’s not important if they were created 10, 20 or 30 years ago. I want to teach dances by the dance and not by the choreographer. I want to run a program based on quality (to my personal opinion), and not on temporary popularity.
So I promise you it’s going to be different. How much I don’t know, but still different. Join me on August 20 and enjoy the experience.
I hope to see you there.
Respectfully,
Naftaly Kadosh
